I don't use sugar in my henna paste, so I'm afraid I'm not much help on this one... I know a lot of people use sugar in their mix, as a kind of binding agent I think, it sort of 'plastecises' (sp..?!) the henna paste, making it gooier and stickier, so it stays on the skin for longer without cracking off. Have you tried mixing with sugar before?

I don't use any binding agent most of the time here in the sunny (not) UK ;-). But if its really hot, and I'm going to be doing intricate work I add glycerine for the same effect. I use around a tablespoonful for 100g of henna powder... but I don't know how that translates into sugar qtys :?

I use fructose but i don't use specific quantity, i add it until i find the best consistancy. I use around a teaspoon of fructose for 2 tablespoon of henna but it depends what kind of henna you use, some are more stringy and don't need too much sugar

I find jamila not as stringy as the rajasthani or morrocan henna, so i usually add a little bit of molasse into my paste to avoid craking

Is that on top off sugar you add molasse or just on its own, how much would you add to, say 100gm of jamila.
